Swimming: Srihari Nataraj, Mihir Ambre And Aneesh Gowda clinch Gold

24 JUNE 2022, Singapore: Tokyo Olympian duo of Srihari Nataraj and Maana Patel claimed a gold and a silver respectively as India Clinched 5 medals at 17th Singapore National Swimming Championships.

The promising Mihir Ambre won the 50m butterfly while Aneesh Gowda won the 800m freestyle as Indians bagged three gold on day 1 of exposure competition ahead of the
Commonwealth Games.

Siva Sridhar settled for bronze in the 100m backstroke with a timing of 57.58s as the Indian swimmers won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze on the first day.

The youngest Indian swimmer to have made the Olympic Standard Time, Nataraj made a splash in the 100m backstroke event when he started strongly en route to winning the gold with a timing of 55.32 s.

Mihir Ambre clocks a personal best time of 24.66s to win the Men’s 50m Butterfly gold. His previous best was 24.78s (Sep 2019).

Among Indians, only Virdhawal Khade and Supriya Mondal have faster times than Mihir Ambre.

In the women’s 100m backstroke, Maana Patel clocked 1:04.47s to clinch silver.

Aneesh Gowda won Men’s 800m Freestyle gold with a timing of 8:14.08s.
