AFCON: Senegal held by Guinea

15 Jan 2022, Stade Omnisports de Bafoussam:- The Africa Cup of Nations favourites, Senegal, once again flattered to deceive in Bafoussam on Friday.

Much-fancied Senegal – the highest-ranked team at the tournament – followed up their fortunate last-gasp win over Zimbabwe on Monday with a dull stalemate against Guinea in Group B.

It was a drab West Africa derby at the Kouekong Stadium, with Guinea the better side before the break as Morgan Guilavogui squandered their best opening.

Sadio Mane’s Senegal dominated much of the second half, but could not find the necessary breakthrough with Aly Keita denying Abdou Diallo and the likes of Bouna Sarr, Boulaye Dia and Mamadou Loum all failing to convert chances.

Match score:- Senegal – 0 : Guinea – 0
