
01 Aug 2021: P V Sindhu defeated He Bing Jiao of China in straight games 21-13, 21-25 to win bronze medal in women’s singles category at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, here on Sunday.
With bronze medal at Tokyo, Sindhu became the first Indian women to win olympic medals in successive Olympics following her silver at the Rio Olympics.
This is third consecutive Olympics when an Indian women had won an olympic medal in badminton singles after Saina Nehwal’s bronze at London 2012 and Sindhu’s silver winning effort at the Rio 2016.
