Sofia Polcanova beats Manika Batra in a dominating 4-0 win in Round 3

26 Jul 2021: Manika Batra was thrashed by Austria’s Sofia Polcanova in Round 3 here at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gym on Monday.

Batra ranked 62 in the world, lost in straight games 11-8, 11-2, 11-5, and 11-7 in a match that lasted 27 minutes.

Sofia is ranked World No. 17. It was tough luck for Manika, as the 10th seed Sofia (ranked 17 in the world) was at her ruthless best.

Earlier, Manika had knocked out 20th seed Ukrainian player in an evenly contested match 4-11 4-11 11-7 12-10 8-11 11-5 11-7 and created history by becoming the first ever Indian player to qualify to 3rd round in table tennis singles event.
