India who is making a debut at the 2022 FIFA U17 World Cup were handed a tough draw as they will be up against much experienced teams from USA and Brazil. Morocco like India are making the debut.
In the group A Indian Girls will be playing against World Rank number one USA, World Rank nine Brazil and Morocco.
This will be the seventh edition of this tournament, it was earlier scheduled in 2020 but was cancelled due to Covid19.
Spain are the defending champions having beaten Mexico in the final of the 2018 edition
North Korea are the most successful team winning the competition on two occasions and a runner up place.
Despite qualifying, North Korea opted out of the World Cup and China were named as the replacement team. China and Japan make the three teams from Asia, besides hosts India.
The matches will be played on three venues in Goa, Odisha and Maharashtra.
Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium, Goa’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium are the venues for all the matches.
Navi Mumbai will host the final while the semi-finals will be played in Goa. Bhubaneswar is the venue for India’s three group stage matches on October 11, 14 and 17.
USA will be making there fifth appearance at this competition with there best result being a loss in the 2008 finals while Brazil is going to make their Sixth appearance with two Quarterfinal finishes in 2010 and 2012.
The World Cup will start on October 11 and the final will take place on October 30.
