01 Aug 2022, Birmingham: Indian paddlers knock out Nigeria in the semi finals of men’s team event at Birmingham 2022, here on Monday.
In the first match, the pair of Harmeet Desai and G Sathiyan Gnanasekaran defeated Bode Abiodun and lajide Omotayo by 11-6, 11-7, 11-7.
Achanta Sharath Kamal then overcame Aruna Quadri by 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 15-13 to give India a a 2-0 lead.
In the third, match G Sathiyan Gnanasekaran beat Omotayo Olajide 11-9, 4-11, 11-6, 11-8 to secure a 3-0 win forgot India.
India will begin as favourites against Singapore to defend their Gold Coast 2018 title. India had earlier defeated Singapore in the group stage at Birmingham 2022.
