Indian men enter Hockey quarterfinals

29 Jul 2021, Tokyo: India overpowered defending champions Argentina 3-1 in a Pool A match at the Tokyo Olympics here at the Oi Hockey Stadium North Pitch here on Thursday.

After two goal-less quarters,  in the 43rd Varun Kumar a brilliant goal off penalty corner to put India ahead. In the 48th minute Maico Casella Schuth scored the equalizer, as he successfully converted a penalty corner.

In dying moments of the match, first Vivek Sagar Prasad scored a brilliant field goal in the 58th to again put India ahead. in the very next minute Harmanpreet Singh found the back of the net when he scored off penalty corner to double India’s lead.

With today’s win Team India has qualified for the quarter-finals and look well on course to end four decade olympic medal drought.
