Lovlina settles for bronze

30 Jul 2021: Lovlina Borgohain lost to current world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey 0-5 in the semi-finals of welterweight (64 – 69 kg) category of women’s boxing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics here at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan on Friday.

Despite today’s loss Lovlina Borgohain has now become third Indian and second women boxer to win an olympic medal. Before, Lovlina Borgohain only Vijender Singh (in 2008) and legendary M C Mary Kom (in 2012) has been able to win an olympic medal for India in boxing.
