Lovlina Borgohain punches her way to quarters

27 Jul 2021: Lovlina Borgohain outpunched German veteran Nadine Apetz 3-2 in the women’s welterweight boxing event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics here at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan, on Monday.

She will next face former world champion and fourth seed Nien-Chin Chen of Chinese Taipei on 30 July. A win in that bout would assure Lovlina Borgohain of at least a medal in her debut olympics. A total of 18 boxers from 18 nations competing in this weight category.

Since the number of boxer was less than 32, therefore 14 boxers received bye in the round of 32. Lovlina Borgohain is representing India.
