Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei of China in action during 10m Air Pistol Final at Tokyo 2020

27 July 2021, Tokyo: In the final of 10m Air Pistol mixed team event, the Chinese pair Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei defeated Vitalina Batsarashkina and Artem Chernousov of Russian Olympic Committee at the Asaka Shooting Range, here on Tuesday.

While in the bronze medal match, Olena Kostevtch and Oleh Omelchuk of Ukraine defeated Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec of Serbia.

India had fielded two teams first being Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary and the other being Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma. Manu and Saurabh finished seventh in stage 2 after toping stage 1 of qualifications. Whereas, the pair of Yashaswini and Abhishek failed to cross stage 1 of qualifications after finishing 17th in 20 team field.

The 10m Air Pistol mixed team has been include for the first time in the olympics. In the 10m Air Pistol mixed team, the top eight teams at the end of qualification stage 1, qualify for stage 2. At the end of stage 2, top two teams play the gold medal match, while the teams ranked third and fourth compete in the Bronze medal match. In both the gold and bronze medal matches, the team reaching 16 points first with a difference of two is declared winner.
