The Indian women team lead by Harmanpreet Kaur beat Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup T-20 at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok.
Today’s win was India’s third in as many games. India also avenged their narrow defeat in the World T20 at home in March. India now have six points from three matches. The other teams in the competition are Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Nepal apart from Pakistan.
India won the toss and decided to field first. A charged-up India dismissed Pakistan for just 97 in 20 overs. Ekta Bist bagged three for 20 while Anuja Patil and Kaur took two wickets each. Iram Javed was the top scorer for Pakistan with an unbeaten 37.
In reply, India fumbled before romping home in 19.2 overs, before Mithali Raj (37) and Kaur (26 not out) took home. The victory against Pakistan puts India on top of the table. India now faces Sri Lanka on December 1.
