Rohtak, Apr 30: Defending champions Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) successfully defended their title following a 3-1 win over hosts Hockey Haryana in the final of Hockey India’s women 7th senior national championship A-Division here at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex on Sunday.
The defending champions took an early lead when Neha scored in the third minute of the match. However, Reet scored the equalizer for hosts Hockey Haryana in the sixth minute, as the first quarter ended at 1-1.
In the 10th minute of the second quarter, Navneet Kaur scored the second goal for the Railway outfit. After a goalless third quarter, Neha scored her second goal of the match in the 50th minute to make it 3-1 in favour of RSPB.
Earlier in the day, Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Association of Indian Universities 3-1 to clinch the 3rd place.
Dadra & Nagar Haveli Hockey Association and Sports Authority of India have been relegated to B-Division after finishing 19th and 20th respectively in the 20 team tournament. Their place will be taken by Hockey Him and Hockey Rajasthan, as these two teams finished winner and runner-up in the B-Division.
