received_1208518815872970There is a ray of hope among Track and field fraternity after Tejaswin Shankar literally jumped to a new high with his gold medal wining effort at the 32nd National Junior Athletics Championship in Coimbatore.

The 17 year old boy from Delhi broke 12 year old National Senior Record with a classy jump of 2.26 m. The earlier record of 2.25m was in the name of Hari Shankar Roy, who had achieved this feat during his silver medal wining effort at the Asian All-Star Athletics Meet in Singapore in 2004.

This Record will fetch him the 2nd position in the World Under20 category.
Prior to his record breaking performance on the opening day at Coimbatore, Tejaswin had won Bronze at Asian Youth Championship in doha, Gold at Commonwealth Youth Games, 2015 & National Open Athletics at Lucknow in September this year.

He was initially spotted by his school game teacher Mr Sunil Kumar, who continue to work on his ward. He further honed his skills after being trained under watchful eyes of two time former Olympic High Jumper Jamie Nieto, during his 6 weeks stint at USA.

Great things are expected from Tejaswin as he has raised the bar by shattering a senior record while still competing at Junior Championship.
