24th 5-wicket haul. U rock @ashwinravi99Click To Tweetr-ashwinMumbai: Ashwin’s 24th five wicket haul in Test matches helped India beat England by an innings and 36 runs on the fifth day of the fourth Test match at Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Ravichandran Ashwin scalped wickets of Jonny Bairstow (51), Chris Woakes (0), Adil Rashid (2) and James Anderson (2) in a brilliant display of spin bowling to skittle out visitors for 195 runs in their second innings.

Virat Kohli was declared the Man of the Match for his 235  in the first innings. Yesterday, Virat Kohli became the first batsman in the world to score three double centuries in successive series. With this win India took an unassailable 3 – 0 lead against England in the ongoing 5 match series.

Final Score at the end of Day 5:

England: 400 and 195 all out (Joe Root 66, Jonny Bairstow 51, Ashwin 6/55)

India: 631 all out for (Kohli 235, Vijay 136, Jayant 104, Rashid 4/192)

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 288 for five, vistors were reduced to 334 for eight as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Ben Stokes (31) while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with wickets of Chris Woakes (11) and Adil Rashid (4).  However, Jos Buttler (76) scored his sixth fifty, as he shared a 54 run stand with Jake Ball (31) for the ninth wicket to prevented hosts from gaining advantage. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 400 runs in their first innings.

For India, Ashwin picked up six wickets, his 23rd five-wicket haul, while Ravindra Jadeja bagged the remaining four wickets.

KL Rahul included in the squad for the second Test

KL Rahul back in Indian Test TeamClick To TweetOpener Lokesh Rahul was today included in the Indian squad against England for the ongoing Test series, BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke informed on Tuesday.

Rahul impressed chairman of selectors MSK Prasad and selector Sarandeep Singh after he scored 76 and 106 in the two innings against Rajasthan in the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy.

It remains to be seen, if KL Rahul gets a chance to play in place of Gautam Gambhir in the second test match against England. Gautam Gambhir scored 29 runs in the first innings whereas in the second innings, he failed to open his account.

However, inclusion of Rahul is a welcome addition to the Indian team ahead of the second test match, which begins on 17th November at Visakhapatnam.
