@imVkohli become first Indian captain to score 3 double centuries.Click To Tweetvirat-kohliMumbai: Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up two wickets each after Virat Kohli (235) scored his third double century and Jayant Yadav (104) registered his maiden Test hundred took India to the threshold of series victory against England on the fourth day of the fourth Test match at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

England got off to a worst possible start in the second innings as Bhuvneswar Kumar trapped first innings centurion Keaton Jennings LBW on the second ball of the innings.

Before Jadeja struck twice in quick succession to dismiss Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali as England went into Tea break at 49/3.

Root and Bairstow defied the Indian spinners for some time before Jayant Yadav trapped Joe Root for 77.

Ben Stokes played few big shots before being dismissed by Ashwin. Ashwin then removed night-watchman Jake Ball in the last over of the day to leave the visitors reeling at 182/6.

England still trail India by 49 runs with four second wickets in hand.

Earlier both the overnight batsmen Virat Kohli (235) and Jayant Yadav (104) added 241 runs for the eighth wicket to help India take 231 runs lead in the first innings.

England’s tour of India – 3rd test match at Mohali – Day 2

Mohali: All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin (57*) alongwith Ravindra Jadeja rescued India from a tricky situation in the, while chasing England’s 1st innings score of 283. Ashwin had been involved in two useful partnerships, first adding 48 runs for the sixth wicket with Virat Kohli and then an unbroken 67 runs partnership with Jadeja, as India ended second day at 271 for six.

Earlier this morning, Mohammed Shami removed both the overnight batsmen in space of 11 balls as the vistors ended thier firsa innings after adding 15 runs to their overnight total. For India, Shami took 3 wickets for 63, whereas Jayant, Umesh and jadeja picked 2 wickets each.

In reply, Indian openers took the score to 39, before Vijay edged one to Bairstow of the bowling of Stokes. In-form Pujara then joined Parthiv Patel as the two took India’s score to 60 for one at lunch. Patel departed after lunch on when the score was 73. He was trapped LBW by Rashid for 42. From there on it now usual Pujara – Kohli show till tea. India went to tea at 148 for two. Just when it looked that these two will take the match away from the visitors, a Pujara was caught in the deep by Woakes of a Rashid’s long hop. Before, Pujara fell for 51, his 11th test fifty, he had added 75 runs with Kohli.

Soon, India found themselves from 148 for two at tea to 156 for five, as they lost three wicktes for 8 runs. Rahane, was trapped in front of wicket by Rashid without scoring, debutant Karun Nair got runout for 4, after a mixup with Kohli. Ashwin and Kohli added 48 runs before Kohli departed for 62 – his 14th Test fifty, as he nicked one to keeper of Stokes, as India were 204 for six. From hereon, Ashwin incompany Jadeja added 67 useful runs to take India 12 runs short of England’s 1st innings score.

KL Rahul included in the squad for the second Test

KL Rahul back in Indian Test TeamClick To TweetOpener Lokesh Rahul was today included in the Indian squad against England for the ongoing Test series, BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke informed on Tuesday.

Rahul impressed chairman of selectors MSK Prasad and selector Sarandeep Singh after he scored 76 and 106 in the two innings against Rajasthan in the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy.

It remains to be seen, if KL Rahul gets a chance to play in place of Gautam Gambhir in the second test match against England. Gautam Gambhir scored 29 runs in the first innings whereas in the second innings, he failed to open his account.

However, inclusion of Rahul is a welcome addition to the Indian team ahead of the second test match, which begins on 17th November at Visakhapatnam.
