Hero I-League – 2017: East Bengal crush Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru, Feb 25: Kingfisher East Bengal crushed defending champions and hosts Bengaluru FC 3-1 in an eleventh round Hero I – League encounter at the Sree Kanterava Football Stadium here on Saturday.

For the visitors, Ugandan import Ivan Bukenya scored the first goal in the 23rd minute. India international, Robin Singh’s two goals in the 54th and 60th minute virtually sealed the match. C K Vineeth’s scored the consolation goal for the Blues in the 85th minute.

After today’s match, the Reds & Golds has 24 points from 11 games, while Bengaluru FC has 13 points from 10 matches.

East Bengal surges to the second position on the I-League table

Kolkata, Jan 22: East Bengal made a second half comeback to beat the defending champions Bengaluru FC 2-1 at the Barasat Stadium on Sunday.

C K Vineeth’s 23rd minute goal put the vistors ahead in front of about 15,000 home supporters. In the 28th minute, East Bengal’s Ugandan import, Ivan Bukenya scored the equalizer, much to the relief of the passionate home supporters. Both the sides went into the break with 1-1 scoreline.

Super sub Robin Singh struck in the 79th minute to put the Reds & Golds ahead. The home side managed to defend its solitary goal lead to hand Bengaluru FC, its first defeat of the season.

Today’s win propelled KBFC to 2nd place in the table with 10 points from four matches, two points behind arch-rivals Mohun Bagan, while defending champions Bengaluru FC are on fourth place with nine points at the end of the fourth round.
