Congrats @Pvsindhu1 on winning 1st match of BWF Superseries Finals 2016 Click To TweetDubai: World No. 10 PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 12-21, 21-8, 21-15 in her opening game of BWF Superseries Finals 2016 in Dubai on Wednesday.
Sindhu was off to a slow start against Yamaguchi, ranked 8th in the world won the opening game 21 – 12. In the second game, both the players were tied at 7 – 7, before the Indian came into her own to win 14 out of 15 points.
In the third and final game, 2016 Rio Olympics Silver medallist took an initial 6 – 3 lead, as she went into the break leading 11 – 7. The Indian maintained her lead after the break to take the game 21-15 and with that also the match.
Sindhu will next meet world number 6, Sun Yu of China in her second Group B fixture on Thursday.
