121st Beighton Cup – Semifinals Results

Kolkata, Dec 26: Bharat Petroleum pumped in five goals to beat Punjab National Bank 5-2 in first semifinal of the 121st All India Beighton Cup hockey tournament here on Monday.

Olympian, Sunil SV was literally on fire as he scored four goals. For BPCL, one goal came from the stick of Jarnail Singh also, while Gagandeep Singh and Shamsher reduced the margin for Punjab National Bank.

Courtesy a brace by Deepak Thakur and one goal each from VR Raghunath, Roshan Minz and Gurjinder Singh, Indian Oil outclassed ONGC 5 – 3 in the second semifinal. For ONGC, Diwakar Ram, Gurbaj Singh, Vikramjit Singh were the goal scorers.

60th National Shooting Championship

Pune Dec, 26: Anmol Jain of Haryana clinched the gold in the 10m Air Pistol at the Balewadi Sports Complex Shooting Range on Monday.

The 18 year old Anmol, scored 201.4 in the final ahead of Karnataka’s PN Prakash (197.5) and Onkar Singh of Army (175.8).

In the Junior Men’s 10m Air pistol, Anmol from finished second behind Gaurav Tomar of Army, who also won the team bronze alongwith Yashwant Singh and Gumeet. Uttarakhand team comprising (Gauran Rana, Samarjit Singh and Jatin Singh Rathore) won the gold ahead of Hayana which had Lucky and Himanshu Tanwar, apart from Anmol Jain.

Gaurav Tomar along with Jitu Rai and Manjit Singh also won the Team gold in Men’s 10m Air Pistol category.

Satyendra Singh of Army pipped olympian Chain Singh to gold in Mens 50 metres 3 Positons category. In the finals Satyendra scored 450.9 as compared to Chain Singh’s 448.4. Navy’s Rahul Poonia, finished third with a score (439.1).

In the Junior Mens Mens 50 metres 3 Positons category, Junior World Cup winner Subhankar Pramanick of West Bengal took the gold with the score of (442.1) ahead of Madhya Pradesh’s Harshit Binjwa (430.3) and Tamil Nadu’s Sarvesh Swaroop Shankar (418.6).
