65th Senior National Volleyball Championship for Men and Women

Chennai Dec, 29: Defending champions Railways entered the men’s final of the¬†65th Senior National Volleyball Championship with a 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23 win over Punjab at the Nehru indoor stadium here on Thursday.

In the other semifinal, Kerala beat host Tamil Nadu 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

In women’s category Railways got the better of Andhra Pradesh 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, while Kerala overcame Maharashtra 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14.

Railways beat Punjab: 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23
Kerala beat Tamil Nadu: 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16

Railways beat Andhra Pradesh: 25-12, 25-12, 25-10

Prithvi Shaw inducted by Mumbai for Ranji semis

Mumbai Dec, 28: 41 time Ranji champions had included uncapped 17 year old batsman Prithvi Shaw into their squad for the semi finals against two-time champions Tamil Nadu to be played at Rajkot from January 1 to 5.

Shaw had slammed a then record score of 546 in a Harris Shield Schools game at the age of 14. His record was broken by Pranav Dhanawade in January this year.

The squad: Aditya Tare (Captain), Abhishek Nayar, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Siddhesh Lad, Praful Waghela, Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur, Balwinder Singh Sandhu (Jr.), Tushar Deshpande, Royston Dias, Sufiyan Shaikh, Vijay Gohil, Akshay Girap, Eknath Kerkar.

Aryaveer wins gold at State Cross Country Championship

Jammu, Dec 29: Upcoming long distance runner, Aryaveer Singh of BSF School (Paloura) claimed gold medal in Under-16 category of State Cross Country Championship, here Thursday.
