Touted by many as the future of Indian Football, he was awarded “Emerging Player of the 2016 Indian Super League” in addition to four “Emerging Player of the Match awards”.
He was among five under-19 players from the All India Football Federation’s Elite Academy in Goa to train at Ligue 1 team FC Metz.
The diminutive Jerry made 11 starts and featured in 13 games all for Chennaiyin FC in the third season. He became the youngest to make an ISL appearance apart from becoming the youngest to score.
The 18-year-old left back from Mizoram has also been capped by the national side from the under-14 to under-19 age group. He had been rejected twice for the under-14 India trials in Mizoram.
In Mizoram Premier League, he represents Chanmari FC. For the upcoming 2017 season, Jerry Lalrinzuala has been signed by the I-league side DSK Shivajians FC on loan from Indian Super League (ISL) side Chennaiyin FC.
