Boxing is a full contact sport, where the aim of both the boxers / pugilists is to land successful punches on the head and torso of the opponent. At the same time the boxer has to avoid himself from getting hit by the opponent. In Olympics, a boxing match has three rounds of three minutes each.

A total of nine boxers (five men and four women) will be representing India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Vikas Krishnan will be competing in his third Olympics while M C Mary Kom has qualified for the second time after missing 2016 Rio Olympics.
