Indian Sports History – 03rd December

On 3rd December 1982: Indian women’s cricket team captainĀ Mithali Raj was bornĀ in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. She is the first female batter to score 6,000 runs in ODIs. She achieved this feat during her knock of 69 runs in a league match of the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup against Australia.

Playing her 164th innings in her 183rd match, Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj became the highest run-scorer in ODI cricket. The earlier record of 5,992 runs was in the name of England’s Charlotte Edwards.

She also holds record for most number of 50+ scores (seven) in women’s cricket. She also hold the record for maximum number half centuries in ODIs in women’s cricket.

She scored an unbeaten 114 against Ireland on her debut at Milton Keynes in 1999.
