Government forms Panel For National Sports Code

The Government has decided to constitute the following Committee to study the existing sports governance frame work, issues relating to sports governance in the country, recent developments related to sports governance, including court judgments & international best practices and make recommendations on bringing out a comprehensive National Sports Development Code across sports disciplines.

i. Shri Injeti Srinivas, Secretary (Sports) Chairman
ii. Shri Abhinav Bindra, Olympian Member
iii. Ms. Anju Bobby George, Olympian Member
iv. Shri Praksh Padukone, Eminent Sports Person & Coach Member
v. Shri Narinder Batra, President, FIH Member
vi. Shri. Nandan Kamath, Lawyer Member
vii. Shri Bishweshwar Nandi, Coach Member
viii. Shri Vijay Lokpally, Sports Journalist Member
ix. Joint Secretary (Sports), MYAS Member Secretary

The terms of reference of the committee are to identify basic universal principles of ethics and good governance based on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Charter international best practices, draft National Sports Development Bill, National Sports Development Code of 2011, Supreme Court and High Court judgments,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Committee is required to submit its report within a month.

  1. Looking forward to good decisions by this team as we are one of the few organizations concentrating on grass root training in Handball at Mysore Karnataka.In the last 3 years we have 12 boys and girls who played in Nationals,a couple in SAI and consistently on top 4 in U 15 and U 19 teams.
