India won gold in Field hockey at 1928 Amsterdam Olympics.

On 26 May 1928: India beat hosts Netherlands 3 – 0 in the finals to clinch their maiden Olympic gold in Hockey. India’s Dhyan Chand was tournament’s leading scorer with 14 goals (including hat-trick in the finals). Eric Pinninger captained the team in the final, whereas Jaipal Singh Munda the designated captain had walked out of the team, after it reaching the knock out stage.

In the entire tournament, India didn’t conceded​ a single goal while scoring 29 goals in all. Out of which, Dhyan Chand scored the highest number of goals (14) for India.
